James Cisar, Sr., 88

James Richard Cisar, Sr., 88, Red Oak, the son of Jos. Louis Cisar and Ruth Marie Myers, was born June 29, 1938, in Omaha, Neb. He passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at the Medical Center University of Nebraska, Omaha, Neb.
James was raised in south Omaha, where he attended high school. On June 29, 1955, his 17th birthday, he entered the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged on June 29, 1959. James was united in marriage to Carolyn S. Meek on Oct. 3, 1959, at Carson. They made their home in Red Oak until moving to Omaha in 1963. While in Omaha, James worked for Western Electric. They returned to Red Oak in 1973, and he worked for D & L Company. Later, James worked in Atlantic for the Dana Company, which he retired from. After retirement, he worked part-time managing the carwash on Broadway.
James enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, riding on the pontoon boat and socializing with people. He also loved Harley-Davison motorcycles, enjoyed traveling and playing Sudoku Block puzzles. James treasured his family and dearly loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He loved to talk to them like Donald Duck. James was a member of the Presbyterian Church, liked to help at food banks, and support any event to help fight cancer.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn on Feb. 19, 2009; daughter, Velma Cisar; great-grandson, Anthony Appley; daughter-in-law, Dana Cisar and four siblings.
James is survived by two children, James Richard “Dick” Cisar, Jr. of Atlantic, and Shelley Shuffler and companion Fred Welch of Red Oak; significant other, Janis Bowden of Red Oak; 10 grandchildren, David (Becky), Melissa, Michelle, Scott, Jessica (Bill), Tanner (Brook), John James (Sarah), Christina, Neissa, and Cierra; 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Carroll (Dorothy) Meek, Francis Campbell and Jerry Lukehart; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service was held on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak. Inurnment will be take place later at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak.
