Tigers 15th at Kirk Schmaltz invite

The Red Oak cross country team placed 15th at the Kirk Schmaltz Invitational on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames Thursday.
Dallas Center-Grimes captured the boys team title with a score of 65. Waukee was the runner up with 98 points.
Marshalltown’s Preston Johnson ran a 16:13 win the boys race. Henry Hansen of Mason City was second with a 16:27.
The Tigers, led by Emmanuel Grass and his 16th place time of 17:18, tallied 384 points.
“The race was stacked with 4A schools with Red Oak being the smallest school,” said Red Oak coach Sueann French. “Emmanuel had a nice race placing 16th and Hayden not far behind. Times were not great by anyone as the temperature was 89 (degrees) when they raced. We beat Lewis Central and Van Meter as those are competitive schools with us. This was a great training race for our guys.”
Hayden Hietbrink added a 35th place finish followed by Osiel Pedersen in 98th, Manuel DeLeon in 112th, AJ Beeson in 123rd and Pace Chaillie in 128th to complete the Tigers’ scoring.
