Edward “Ed” Dellinger, 83

Edward “Ed” Eugene Dellinger, 83, Plattsmouth, Neb., peacefully passed away surrounded by loved
ones on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Neb.
Ed was born on June 4, 1942, the son of Bernie J. Dellinger and Ethel Marie (Kropf) Dellinger in
Powell, Wyo. At a young age, Ed moved with his family to Nodaway, where he was raised and educated.
He attended Nodaway High School and graduated with the Class of 1959. Following high school, Edward
proudly served his country as a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1963 to 1969. He then attended
data entry school in Des Moines, but Ed soon discovered that wasn’t for him. He began his working years
in Omaha, Neb., where he worked in construction and later at Safeway Grocery. At the age of 18, Ed began
a long and dedicated career at Western Electric, AT & T, and retired from Lucient Technologies after 40
years. Ed also served on the Plattsmouth Rural Fire Board for 30 years.
Ed met the love of his life, Susan Marie Petereit, and the two were united in marriage on May 11, 1968,
at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plattsmouth. Together, Ed and Susan made a loving home in Plattsmouth,
where they shared 57 years filled with devotion, companionship, and cherished memories. Ed and Susan
enjoyed everything together, camping, water and snow skiing, motorcycle trips, hill climbing, snowmobiling,
and boating, always together.
He was a proud and active member of several organizations, including the Plattsmouth Masonic Lodge
#6 A.F. & A.M., Tangier Shrine of Omaha, Meadowlark Model A Ford Club, the Syracuse Snowmobile
Club, and the Nebraskaland Chapter Pontiac Oakland Club International. Through these organizations, he
formed lifelong friendships and enjoyed the fellowship they provided.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Susan Dellinger of Plattsmouth, Neb.; three nieces, Rachele
Ellison and her husband Darrell of Derby, Kan., Holly Krogman and her husband Greg of Topeka, Kan.,
and Melody Ast and her husband Don of Gordonville, Texas; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews;
sister-in-law, Janet Toman of Naperville, Ill.; brother-in-law, Kurt Petereit of Plattsmouth, Neb.; many
nieces and nephews-in-law; and a wide circle of cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Ethel Dellinger, his sister, Ruby Jewell; his
parents-in-law, Marvin and Verona Petereit; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Petereit.
A Funeral Service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at Roby Funeral Home, with
Pastor Gordon Scott officiating.
The Pallbearers were Juan Jacobo, Rodney Keil, Dennis Heim, Glenn Wiles, Marvin Wiles and Greg
Eisenbarth. The Honorary pallbearers were Mike Cahalane, Randy Schroeder, Leroy Lewis, Craig Shrimpton,
Carl Rylander, Don Graves, and Roger Schmidt.
Ed was laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Neb.
