Kathleen “Kay” McGowan, 81

With a heavy heart and deep sadness, I regret to report the death of my beloved sister, Kathleen Kay Norris McGowan, Naples, Fla., formerly Griswold. “Kay” was born at the Midwife home of Minnie Hartman in Griswold July 13, 1944 and passed away November 16, 2025 in Naples due to a lingering illness.
Kay leaves behind a daughter, Kayle McGowan Allen, Naples, Fla.; grandkids KC and Leonard Allen; and sister, Bonnie Norris, Red Oak, formerly Griswold; nephew, Jeb McWilliam, Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and niece, Laura McWilliam Bartak, Van Nuys, Calif.; each had a special bond with their Auntie Kay; MaryLou’s children, Steve Rogers, Griswold; Jim Rogers, Wiota; Susan Rogers Dreager, Council Bluffs: Carol Rogers-Burns, Castle Rock, Colo.; and Bud’s girls, Liz Norris McKinley, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Jennifer Norris Gray, Arnold, Md., all hold fond memories. There are several great- and great-great-kiddoes too!
Kay leaves many good friends as well.
Preceding Kay in death were her parents, Nancy and Earl Norris; brother, Robert Earl Norris (Bud); sister, Mary Lou Rogers; and Baby Boy McGowan (at birth).
Kay taught school for over 40 years (up into her 70s!) She loved having a positive and supportive impact on all of her students.
Kay will be remembered for her vibrant/energetic personality, her kindness, sense of humor and unconditional friendship. (A vivid memory of mine is watching Kay, on her Pinto pony, galloping down the road, bareback, with complete and utter abandon! Pure joy!) I miss her!
Love you, Kay,
Your big sis, Bonnie
