Lynn Sundberg, 61

Lynn Marie (Nickolaison) Sundberg, 61, Creedmoor, N.C., passed away, Sept. 4, 2025, at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, N.C.
Lynn was born Sept. 1, 1964, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Ronald and Marsha (Petersen) Nickolaison. She attended elementary and middle school in Red Oak. She attended high school in Maryville, Mo., and graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1982. Lynn worked various jobs in Red Oak including Kmart, KOAK, Farmers Mercantile, Red Coach Inn, and Eveready Battery Company. She then attended Iowa Western Community College graduating in May of 1998 with an Associate Degree in Marketing.
Lynn worked for Fox 42 and KETV in Omaha, Neb., in the advertising trafficking department. In 2008, she moved to Charlotte, N.C. with Hearst Television and in 2010 transferred to Raleigh-Durham, N.C., working for ABC 11.
Her interest and hobbies included riding Harley motorcycles, sea turtles, visiting the ocean, Siamese cats, birds, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever, attending concerts, dancing, playing foosball, and spending time with family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her stepfather, Gayle Rolofson; grandparents, Oscar Nickolaison, George and Margaret (Nickolaison) Christensen, Richard and Marie Petersen, Pete and Dixie Rolofson, Harry and Merle Jean Shaffer, Patrica Tunstall: and aunts and uncles, Diane (Nickolaison) Becker, Larry Leonard, and Bob and Joanne Petersen.
Survivors include her fiancé, Macon Tunstall and children, Katie and Hunter; grandson, Maverick; parents, Ronald and Nancy Nickolaison and Marsha and Kevin Gruber; Rives Tunstall; siblings, Mike and Marni Nickolaison, Jeremy Rolofson, Polly Rolofson, and Gwen (Nickolaison) and Cody McCartney; stepsiblings, Terra Rolofson Bosley, Tasha Rolofson, and Pete Rolofson; nieces and nephews, Savanna (Nickolaison) and Misty Reise, and daughter Sawyer; Grayson Nickolaison; Ashley Nickolaison and Jeff Makowski; Drake Nickolaison and Julia Harris; Sethan Rolofson; Jaeden Rolofson; Jolaine Rolofson; Suzette Rolofson and daughter Delilah; Sebastian McCartney and daughter Wrenlee; and Aiden McCartney; aunts and uncles, Sheryl Leonard, Keith Nickolaison, Shirley Jones, Mary Shannon, Dean and Patty Rolofson, Dan and Joni Rolofson, Carey and Lindy Rolofson, Steve and Angie Rolofson, and Linda Roof; and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held in Raleigh-Durham on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, with her North Carolina Family including all her Co-Workers from ABC and The Blue Note Grill, all her other great friends, and the B2 Crew that did a ride in with 26 bikes.
Visitation in Red Oak, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at the new location of LeRette Funeral Chapel at 525 E. Ratliff Road in Red Oak. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel with burial to be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Lynn has requested that you wear one of the following t-shirts: Concerts/Band, Iowa Hawkeye, Harley Davidson, Sea Turtles, or Catlin Clark/Indiana Fever.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Granville County in Butner, N.C.; the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Surf City, N.C.; or the Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, Kan.
