Mark Smith, 70

Mark Smith, 70, Henderson, Nev., formerly of Red Oak, passed away on Nov. 15, 2023, at Henderson Nev., following a lengthy illness.
Mark Wesley Smith, the son of Cleo and Elaine Smith, was born on Oct. 26, 1953, at Guthrie Center. The family moved to Red Oak in l968, and Mark graduated from Red Oak High School in 1972. Mark was united in marriage to Susan Eitzen in l973. They both worked at Union Carbide/Eveready until it closed. He then worked at Parker Manufacturing until his retirement in 2012, due to health reasons. Mark and Sue lived in Clarinda for a few years before moving to Las Vegas, Nev. Anyone who knew Mark knew his love of old cars, car racing, especially Dale Earnhardt racing, golf, guns, knives, woodworking, rock collecting, beer and peanut  M & M’s. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family first and foremost.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo Smith and Elaine Smith; in-laws, Ermal Eitzen and Jean Eitzen; and brother-in-law, George Sharp.
Mark is survived by his wife, Susan Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; their children, Pat (Lisa) Smith of Red Oak, and Dana (Justin) Carriveau of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Beau Sallach, Emma Sallach, Easton Smith and Leo Smith all of Red Oak; Brianna Belleville (Cameron Main) of Milton, Vt.; Hunter Haes of St. George, Utah; Sophia Haes of St. George, Utah; and Austin Carriveau of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Dianne Sharp of Boone, and Lisa (Doug) Mayo of Malvern; brother-in-law, Jim (Avis) Eitzen of Red Oak; and sister-in-law, Teri (Wayne) Graves of Aberdine, Md. Also mourning his passing is a close family friend (and dance partner) Sharon Carlson of Las Vegas, Nev. and her son Steven, currently serving in the U.S. Navy. Mark will be missed by his loving dog, Chewy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak. Pastor Scott Davison will officiate.
