Patricia Rains, 92

Mrs. Patricia Louise Rains, 92, daughter of the late Walter VanDaele and Evelyn Shackett VanDaele, was born Aug. 30, 1930 in Los Angeles, Calif. She was a graduate of Whittier College and taught with the public schools in California for many years as a physical education and home economics teacher.
She was united in marriage to Jimmie Rains in April 1957 in Canoga Park, Calif. They made their home in southern California. This union was blessed with two children. In 1971, the family relocated to Stanton. She lived there until 1986, at which time she moved back to California and returned to her love of teaching as a substitute teacher.
Patricia was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton, until she returned to California in 1986. She professed her love of Jesus, and is now resting comfortably in His arms.
She loved gardening and working with flowers. She was at her happiest when she was playing with her yard’s landscape!
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara Sanchez; and her former husband, Jimmie Rains.
She is survived by her sister, Sheila Hunt; son, Jeffrey Rains of Boulder, Colo.; daughter, Sheri (Rains) carpenter of Clovis, N.M.; grandchildren, Joseph and Carpenter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Kasey Carpenter of Clovis, N.M.; and Matt and Noel (Carpenter) Freeman of Tulsa, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Riylan Hunt, Kaynen Hunt, Miller Freeman Kaiah Carpenter, Alexandria Carpenter, many nieces, and one nephew.
