William "Bill" Gray, 79

William C. “Bill” Gray, 79, of Krum, Texas, formerly of Red Oak, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Krum, Texas.
William Clifford Gray, the son of Thomas and Helen (Tollen) Gray, was born May 28, 1945, in Red Oak. Bill was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School in l963. He entered the U.S. Navy on June 17, 1963, serving two tours in Vietnam before being honorably discharged on May 5, l967. His bravery and dedication during his service were a testament to his character and commitment to his country.
Bill soon moved to Des Moines, where he worked for the 3E Company. He then made his home in Omaha, Neb., and began his career with Lakeland Engineering. In 1983, Bill transferred with Lakeland Engineering to Dallas, Texas, where he worked diligently. His expertise and dedication were widely respected by his colleagues and peers. In 2013, he moved back to Red Oak. In 2022, Bill moved to Krum, Texas.
Bill had a passion for traveling and exploring new places. He was an avid deer hunter and cherished the times spent in the great outdoors. One of his greatest joys was his annual trips to Nebraska, where he enjoyed hunting with his nephew. These trips were filled with camaraderie, adventure, and creation of countless cherished memories. Bill did not know a stranger and loved to visit with people no matter where he was. Bill was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Red Oak and member of the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406 in Stanton.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Ernest, Daniel, Frank, Norbert, Robert, Roger, and John; and three sisters, Eula Orelup, Katherine Lewis, and Marcella Pister.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Molly and husband Dennis Standifer of Krum, Texas; and Melissa Gray of Stanton; two grandchildren, Makayla Standifer and Mathew Gray; great-grandchild, Oakley Gray; and sister, Mildred Gray; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak. Burial with Military Rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa.
