Opera Duo Extraordinaire

Hear two opera singers hit the high and low notes when baritone Brandon Hendrickson and soprano Jennifer Hendrickson perform at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue in Clive, Iowa, on Saturday, April 2, at 7 p.m. The two graduates of Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa will perform a variety of songs from the musical theater along with operatic arias and duets including works by Rossini, Robert Schumann, Gabriel Fauré, William Bolcom and Rodgers and Hammerstein. A free-will offering will be taken. Brandon has performed with the Louisiana Sinfonietta, the Pensacola Opera and the Dallas Opera. This summer, he will make his mainstage debut with the Des Moines Metro Opera singing the role of Schaunard in La Boheme. Jennifer has performed with the Opéra Louisane and the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. This summer, Jennifer plans to debut with Opera Iowa singing the role of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. To get to Faith Lutheran Church, exit Interstate-235 at Valley West Drive in West Des Moines. Go north to University Avenue and then west beyond the K-Mart discount store. Faith Lutheran Church is on the north side of University Avenue. Parking is available at Faith Lutheran Church and at K-Mart. This performance is part of the 20th season for Soli Deo Musica, the fine arts program at Faith Lutheran Church. Other events this year have included a barn dance at Living History Farms in Urbandale, a Christian rock concert which brought in a large number of food items for the Des Moines Area Religious Council’s food pantry and a performance of Luther College’s Nordic Choir.
