Operation Gratitude starts “Battalion Buddies”

Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have given more than 620,000 packages to American troops stationed overseas. The packages are filled with items such as snacks, entertainment items and letters of appreciation.

Now, in cooperation with Family Readiness Officers and battalion leaders nationwide, Operation Gratitude is also recognizing the children of military personnel.

As units prepare to deploy, Operation Gratitude will give “Battalion Buddies” to the children. “Battalion Buddies” are stuffed animals donated to the cause.

“Our hope is these gifts will offer some degree of comfort to children while their moms and dads are far away serving their country,” explained Operation Gratitude founder, Carolyn Blashek.

The “Battalion Buddies” Program provides every American with the opportunity to support the children of troops serving in combat.

“The animals would be a beautiful gift from the American people to say ‘Thank you’ to the military children who serve our nation in their own special and courageous way,” said Commanding Officer, Lt. Colonel Angel Ortiz.

Those who wish to donate stuffed toys may send them to Operation Gratitude, 17330 Victory Boulevard, Van Nuys, Calif. 91406, Attention: Battalion Buddies Program.
