Otts accepted into People to People Student program
The People to People program has accepted Regie Otts, of Henderson, as a Student Ambassador representing Southwest Iowa and her school, East Mills High School, in Malvern.
The People to People Student Ambassador program was established in 1956 by President Dwight Eisenhower to provide young Americans the opportunity to learn through international travel. Students in the program visit with other cultures and participate in humanitarian efforts.
Otts was nominated to the program through an anonymous teacher. To be considered she had to obtain and submit three letters of recommendation and complete a personal interview.
Otts was one of 40 students nationwide to be accepted for the 2012 excursion.
Student Ambassadors must pay their own expenses in order to participate in the program including airfare, food and accomodations.
Updates on fundraisers are to be announced. Meanwhile, those who wish to help or want more information can call (712) 825-3202 or (712) 504-0307.
