Perna Huddle, 96

Perna Juanita (Holmes) Huddle, 96, Red Oak, died Dec. 12, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak.

Perna was born Jan. 24, 1917, in Shenandoah, to Oren Samuel and Martha Belle (Henn) Holmes.

Perna and Dean Huddle were married Oct. 24, 1936, and celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary before Dean passed away in 2009. To this union four children were born, Larry, Linda, Steve and Patricia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean; and four siblings.

Left to cherish Perna’s memory are her children, Larry and Eileen Huddle of Loveland, Colo., Linda and Kirk Hascall of Emerson, Steve and Peggy Huddle of Clarinda and Pat and Jeff Schneweis of Claflin, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a sister, Naomi Worl; and a brother-in-law Lysle Nelson, both of Shenandoah.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013. at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, with Rev. Andy Rubenking officiating. Interment was at Clarinda Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, Clarinda Rescue or Red Oak Rescue.

Walker-Merrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
