P.M. UPDATE: Winter weather back in southwest Iowa

3:25 p.m. update: Montgomery, Mills, Page and Fremont counties are under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. today. The winter weather advisory was allowed to expire at 3 p.m. Cass County remains under a blizzard warning until 6 a.m. Friday. Adams County remains under a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Friday. Meanwhile, tow bans have been lifted for Mills, Fremont, Harrison and Monona counties.

A winter storm continues to make its way into southwest Iowa for Thursday.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Montgomery, Mills, Page, Fremont and Adams Counties, while a blizzard warning is in effect for Cass County.

The advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday for Montgomery, Mills, Page and Fremont Counties. At that point, a wind advisory will go into effect from 3-6 p.m. The blizzard warning for Cass County is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday.

A snowfall forecast from the National Weather Service suggests three-to-five inches of snow are possible for the area during the afternoon.

Road conditions are starting to deteriorate as the Iowa DOT is reporting some roadways covered with a mixture of snow, ice or slush. Tow bans are currently in effect for Mills, Fremont, Pottawattamie, Harrison and Monona Counties.

Only one school officially is letting out early. The Southwest Valley school district will have an early out at noon. The Griswold school district didn’t have class Thursday because of weather concerns.
