ACCIDENTS

• On Dec. 28, at about 10:50 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident at the intersection of East Reed Street and 1st Street. Colton Goldsmith, 19, Red Oak, driving a 1999 Mercury Marquis owned by Jon Goldsmith, Red Oak, turned south on 1st Street from Reed Street and struck a legally parked 2006 Ford 500 LT. Damage to the Goldsmith vehicle was about $2,000, while damage to the parked vehicle was estimated at $3,500.

• On Dec. 30, at about 2:15 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident at the intersection of Hammond Street and 2nd Street. Linda Major, 61, Red Oak, driving a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo, was traveling north on 2nd Street and had the right of way. Amber Goranson, 26, Red Oak, driving a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche pick-up, was traveling west on Hammond Street and had a stop sign. According to a witness, Goranson failed to stop for the stop sign. Damage to the Major vehicle was about $4,000, while damage to the Goranson vehicle was estimated at $800. Goranson was cited for failure to obey stop sign.
