ACCIDENTS
• On Jan. 17, at about 11 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident on Highway 48. Joshua Weston, 39, Red Oak, driving a 2016 Hyundai Genesis, was traveling south on Highway 48 when he lost control due to loose sand, bald tires, and possible ice on the road, according to Weston. The vehicle spun completely around, placing the passenger side onto the curb, and breaking both passenger-side wheels and axles. Damage to the vehicle was about $2,5000. There were no injuries, and no citations were issued.
• On Jan. 19, at about 2:40 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated an accident at the intersection of Highway 34 and G Avenue. Jordan Vrba, 22, Red Oak, driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pick-up, was stopped at the intersection on Highway 34 waiting to turn left. Janet Spicer, 88, Emerson, driving a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria, was traveling west on Highway 34 and was unable to see the tail lights on the Vrba vehicle due to mud and dirt on the lights. The Spicer vehicle rear-ended the Vrba vehicle, causing about $4,600 damage to the Spicer vehicle, a total loss. Damage to the Vrba vehicle was estimated at $8,000. Both parties were transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Rescue. No citations were issued.
