ACCIDENTS
• On May 26, at 9:56 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Miller Avenue and Reed Street. Gary Hudson, 59, Red Oak, driving a 2004 Volksgawon Beetle, was traveling east on Reed Street, stopped and then backed west to park in front of his house. Cameron Travis, 18, Red Oak, driving a 2003 Mazda Tribute owned by Angela Travis, Red Oak, was, according to the report, sitting on Reed Street and began to back west toward the Hudson vehicle. According to the report, Travis was trying to fix his radio and didn’t see Hudson’s vehicle or hear him honk his horn. The Travis vehicle backed into the Hudson vehicle, causing $2,000 in damage to the Hudson vehicle and $1,000 in damage to the Travis vehicle. No citations were issued.
On May 29, at 10:11 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 100 block of West High Street. Lee Goolsby, Jr., 63, Nodaway, driving a 2000 Dodge Ram 2600 pick-up owned by Rylee Goolsby, was traveling east on West High Street. The vehicle hit a legally parked 2001 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 pick-up with an attached H&H utility trailer. Damage to the Goolsby vehicle was about $7,000 and combined damage to the other pick-up and trailer was about $13,000. Goolsby was arrested for driving while license revoked and cited for unsafe passing and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
On June 1, at 11:50 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 34/200th Street at about Fernwood Avenue. Jeffrey Greene, 30, Malvern, driving a 2000 Ford F250 pick-up owned by Gregg Greene, was traveling west on Highway 34. Lawrence LaFollette, 76, Red Oak, driving a 2015 Chrysler 200, was also traveling west and had slowed behind a vehicle turning left onto Fernwood Avenue. According to the report, the LaFollette vehicle was rear-ended by the Greene vehicle. Damage to the Greene vehicle was about $7,500, and damage to the LaFollette vehicle was about $8,000. Greene was cited with following too closely and operation without registration plates.
On June 2, at 3:20 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 1400 block of 5th Street. Brandon Strunk, 36, Red Oak, driving a 2001 Lincoln Continental, was backing out of his driveway and struck a legally parked 2001 Chrysler Sebring. Damage to the Strunk vehicle was about $100, and damage to the Sebring was about $1,500. There were no injuries, and no citations were issued.
