ACCIDENTS

• On June 4, at 3:28 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident on Broadway just north of the Cherry Street intersection. Sheri Fada, 47, Red Oak, driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger, was traveling south on Broadway. Marni Coleman, 63, Shenandoah, driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, who was also driving south on Broadway rear-ended the Fada vehicle at a red light. Damage to the Fada vehicle was about $3,500, and damage to the Coleman vehicle was also $2,500. Coleman was cited for following too closely. Fada refused medical help at the scene, but said she would go the hospital later.

• On June 4, at 5:47 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident t the intersection of Highway 71 and 265th Street. Troy Farrens, 51, Blockton, driving a 2001 Ford Explorer, was traveling south on Highway 71 when, according to the report, a 17-year-old male driving a Dodge Ram 1500 and traveling west on 265th Street, failed to obey the stop sign, entered the intersection, and collided with the Farrens vehicle. Both vehicles entered the ditch, and the 17 year old was ejected from the vehicle. The Farrens vehicle continued through the ditch, into a yard, and came to rest against the tree, where Farrens was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Villisca Fire personnel. The 17 year old was transported by Villisca Rescue to Clarinda Regional Health Center and flown to University of Nebraska Medial Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Farrens was transported by Red Oak Rescue to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and then taken by ambulance to University of Nebraska Medical Center, also with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A female passenger in the Farrens vehicle was transported by Clarinda Rescue to Clarinda Regional Health Center with unknown injuries. Two minor children in the Farrens vehicle were uninjured and released to the custody of family members. The 17 year old was cited for fail to obey stop sign and fail to use safety belts.

On June 7, at 8:51 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident in the 1300 block of North Broadway. Donald Dobbs, 81, Red Oak, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up, was traveling north on Broadway when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree head on. Damage to the pick-up was about $10,000. Dobbs was transported by Red Oak EMS to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital due to possible medical issues. No citations were issued.
