Accident Reports

On Dec. 29, at 3:37 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle accident at Hwy. 71 and Hwy. 34. A black 1995 Toyota Camry owned and operated by Bruce Fitzwater, 49, of Villisca, was traveling northbound on Hwy. 71.
A maroon 2000 Pontiac Grand Am owned and operated by Tyler Wolfe, 24, of Glenwood, exited westbound Hwy. 34 and was attempting entry to Hwy. 71 to travel southbound.
Wolfe failed to see Fitzwater and pulled out from the stop sign into Fitzwater’s path. Damage is estimated at $2,000 to Fitzwater’s vehicle and $1,200 to Wolfe’s vehicle. Wolfe was issued a citation for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.

On Jan. 3, at 8:51 a.m., a 1993 Ford F150 pickup operated by Ricky Leroy Sands, 61, of Red Oak, was southbound on S. Broadway, and was turning left from the left hand turn lane onto W. Short St.
A 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass operated by Thomas Leroy Smith, 72, of Red Oak, was westbound on W. Short St., and was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with S. Broadway.
Sands said the sun was in his eyes and he cut the turn short, crossing into Smith’s lane of traffic, striking the front end of Smith’s vehicle with his front end. Damage to Sand’s vehicle is estimated at $1,200, while Smith’s vehicle sustained about $1,000 damage. Sands was issued a citation for failure to yield half of roadway.

 

Incident Reports

On Dec. 29, at 7:12 p.m., Troy D. Terry reported between 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 29 and the time of his report an unknown person(s) entered his residence and took his 42 inch Vizio television. There was no forced entry into the structure. Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity during these times in the 200 block of 2nd Ave., in Red Oak, is asked to contact the Red Oak Police Department at 712-623-6500. The t.v. is valued at $700.

On Dec. 30, Madison Parson reported to police someone had kicked her apartment door causing $100 damage to the door frame. Anyone with information please contact the Red Oak Police.

On Jan. 6, Charles Netherton contacted police and reported someone had broken into his building. He reported things had been moved around, but did not know at the time of the report if anything had been taken. This incident is under investigation.
