ACCIDENTS
• On Dec. 3, at 10:12 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Broadway and Walnut streets. Ronald Potter, 71, Red Oak, driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier, was traveling north on Broadway at the intersection with Walnut Street. According to Potter and another witness, a silver or white cargo van failed to yield upon entering the roadway and traveled east across Broadway, where it struck the Potter vehicle and then continued east on Walnut St. Damage to the Potter vehicle was about $2,500, a total loss. Anyone with information about this accident is encouraged to call the Red Oak Police Department at 712-623-6500.
• On Dec. 4, at 2:20 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident near the intersection of 8th and Coolbaugh streets. Margaret Shipley, 84, Red Oak, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro owned by Joseph Shipley, was traveling south on 8th Street. Shipley stated she was watching a group of people walking and veered off the road and struck a block retaining wall around a tree. Damage to the Shipley vehicle was about $2,500. Damage to the retaining wall was about $1,000. Damage to a street sign and post was about $250.
