Red Oak’s Night Out a ‘success’

Law enforcement officials across Montgomery County are celebrating as a success their inaugural National Night Out event last Tuesday.

Red Oak Police Chief Justin Rhamy said they had a better turnout for the event than they expected, and he added it was a benefit to everyone to bring law enforcement entities together in an approachable way.

“It’s always a benefit to the community, and helps us build our working relationships. It was a really successful night,” he said. 

Seeing the public support, Rhamy said, was the highlight of the evening’s festivities for him. 

“Just seeing the community come together, and seeing the number of people who showed up. It was beyond our expectations. We’re estimating we had around 500 people show up for the event.”

With the strong showing this year, Rhamy said to expect the National Night Out event to continue in Red Oak. 

“We’ve had citizens in the community who have volunteered to take on some roles and responsibilities for next year’s event. I firmly believe we’ll be holding another event in the future,” Rhamy said.
