Red Oak baseball defeated by Shen

 SHENANDOAH — In their only varsity game of the week last Monday, Red Oak lost one to Shenandoah 2-1.

The Tigers entered the seventh inning trailing 2-0.

Red Oak scored its only run on a balk from Shenandoah pitcher Jose Rendon

The Tigers did get a tying run to third base, but weren’t able to bring him across home plate.

Red Oak’s defense and pitching kept them close versus the Mustangs as pitcher Hayden Berry held the Mustangs to single digits in hits and gave up two walks.

Rendon kept the Red Oak bats cool by striking out nine Tigers.

Red Oak was scheduled for other games during the week, but they were all rained out.

Last Tuesday, they were scheduled to play Glenwood, but the game had been postponed due to inclement weather.

Last Thursday they were set to play Lewis Central, but that game was also postponed.

The team was also set to play Treynor and Corning in a triangular Saturday, but that was postponed.

The Tigers get back to action Tuesday night when they go to Clarinda to play the Cardinals in a JV/varsity doubleheader. It starts at 5:30 p.m.

Red Oak travels to Council Bluffs Thursday for a JV/Varsity doubleheader against St. Albert starting at 5:30 p.m.

Finally, Red Oak will host a varsity baseball tournament at Legion Park Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
