Red Oak boys tennis starts season 2-1

What started out as a tough week for the Red Oak boys tennis team turned around by the end of the week as the Tigers ended with a 2-1 record.

The first match for Dennis Martinez’s squad came April 11 in Carroll when they took on Kuemper. Kumper came out with a 6-3 win that included wins from Matt Dentlinger against Jesse Taylor, Colin Uhlenkamp defeated Sean Griffin and Connor Uhlenkamp defeated Garrett Rolenec.

Red Oak was able to get two close wins from Weston Rolenec and Keatis Kunze who both came from behind  to win 10-8.

Kuemper took two of the three doubles matches to solidify its win.

Red Oak did much better at home Tuesday to improve to 1-1 after beating Audubon, 8-1.

Red Oak won all six singles matches.

Jesse Taylor shut out Mennonoh 10-0 in their singles match, Garrett Rolenc defeated Kyle Polson 10-2 and Sean Griffin got a big win against Bryce Jensen 10-3.

Weston and Garrett Rolenec lost a close doubles match to Shamus Card and Dustin Mennonah.

The Red Oak boys ended the week with a close win against Southwest Valley Thursday, defeating the Timberwolves 5-4.

Weston Rolenc, Jesse Taylor and Garrett Rolenc won their singles matches and thew teams of Sean Griffin and Colin Bruce along with Keatis Kunze and Carlos Guerra, won their doubles matches.

Red Oak is now 2-1 on the young season, it was at Glenwood Monday, will be at Shenandoah today, and will go to Lewis Central Thursday afternoon to take on Lewis Central and St. Albert.

Glenwood has already had success this season, like when it defeated Atlantic 6-3 last week.
