Red Oak girls basketball qualifies for state

For the second time in three seasons, the Red Oak girls' basketball team will be playing at the state tournament.

The Tigers defeated Kuemper Catholic 72-69 in overtime Saturday evening to clinch their third state trip in school history.

Red Oak trailed late, but a lay-up with several seconds left by freshman Sierra Athen forced overtime. Red Oak was able to pull out ahead and avenge their loss from last month to the Knights.

Because of the early start time, Red Oak was the first of eight teams in 3A to qualify.
