Red Oak High School and Middle School to host Veteran’s Day speaker
Courtesy of the Fraternal Order of the Red Oak Eagles, the Red Oak High School and Middle School will be having a Veteran’s Day speaker Monday, Nov. 12. Master Sergeant Susan J. Mace will be at the high school at 9 a.m. and the middle school at 10:45 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.
Mace was born in Galesburg, Ill. in 1976. She enlisted in the Air Force during September 1994. After completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, she attended Personal Apprentice training at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.
Her initial duty assignment was to the 14th Mission Support Squadron, Columbus Air Force Base, Miss. in 1995. During her time in Columbus, she was selected as Senior Airman Below-the-Zone.
In December 1999, Mace was transferred to 352nd Special Operations Group, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom. She was Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Commander’s Support Staff. During her tenure, she was selected as the only personnelist to set-up personnel tracking operations in Romania for forward deployment to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. While assigned, she was selected as 352nd Special Operations Group Personnel Manager-of-the-Year for 2002.
In April 2003, Mace was selected for retraining to the Operations Intelligence career field and was reassigned to Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. She graduated with distinguished graduate honors and was sent to 28th Operations Support Squadron, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. During this time, she became the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Targets branch
In 2004, she was selected for Stripes for Exceptional Performers and pinned Technical Sergeant. In 2005, Mace was selected for Non-Commissioned Officer of the year for the 28th Bomb Wing.
Sergeant Mace was selected for assignment to 607th Air Intelligence Squadron, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. She was the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Force Applications and Asymmetric targeting. During her time in Korea, Mace was awarded outstanding performer twice for her efforts during ULCHI-FOCUS LENS and RSO&I.
In May 2007, Mace was assigned to the 315th Training Squadron, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, as Combat Targeting Instructor. During this assignment, she was selected for Master Sergeant and was then moved to be the flight chief of the Distributed Common Ground Station Formal Training Unit.
She deployed to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan in 2009 as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Targeting. During her assignment to Goodfellow, she finished her Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Studies.
Mace is currently assigned to USSTRATCOM Intelligence division as the Joint Intelligence Operations Center, Operations division, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha.
She has been recognized with the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster.
Mace is married to 2LT Simon Mace and is heavily involved in local community service while pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Counseling.
