Red Oak home burglarized while resident sleeps
A Red Oak woman’s home was burglarized Sunday as $300 and jewelry was taken from the room she was sleeping in.
Officers were called to the East Corning Street residence Sunday for a reported break in.
The victim, Patricia Sue Shannon, stated she noticed some items near the inside of her back door were out of place and she realized someone had broke in. The locked storm door had been pried open and the door’s chain lock was broken.
A small dresser with a T.V. on it rests against this door and had been pushed in far enough for someone to enter.
A purse that was hanging on a chair had been gone through. Her wallet was in plain view on the table but nothing from it had been taken, although it did contain credit cards.
Other items were taken from upstairs in the master bedroom where the victim was asleep.
Three hundred dollars was taken from a checkbook that was in a closed drawer of her nightstand. A gold ring with four diamonds and a gold bracelet with diamonds were taken from another dresser. The burglar(s) escaped out the side door.
