Red Oak, Stanton volleyball players earn postseason honors

DES MOINES—The Red Oak and Stanton volleyball teams picked up all-state honors from the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association (IGCA), last week.
Red Oak’s Gabi French was named to third team, all-state in 3A. The junior guided the Tigers to their first state championship tournament since 2007. French finished the 2010 season leading Red Oak and finishing second in the Hawkeye Ten in kills.
French, as well as Rachel Pierson were named to the All-District team in 3A West District.
For Stanton, Kadie Subbert was named to first team all-state. Rachel Sorenson and Carmen Subbert both received honorable mentions.
Sorenson and Kadie Subbert also received All-District honors in the 1A South District.
The three led the Viqueens to their first ever appearance at the state tournament, earlier this month. Kadie Subbert led the team and the Corner Conference in kills with 290.
Viqueens Head Coach J. Browning was named the District Coach of the Year.
