Red Oak sweeps home bowling tournament

 RED OAK — The Red Oak bowling teams once again swept the Red Oak Bowling Tournament, last Tuesday at Red Oak Lanes.

The boys team won with a score of 2,936, while the girls won with a 2,519. In both cases, Red Oak won by a couple hundred pins.

The boys team was nearly 200 pins ahead of Lewis Central, who finished second with a 2,740.

The girls meanwhile were nearly 300 pins ahead of Harlan, who took second with 2,247.

Shaely Nowels was the top individual girls bowler for the tournament, bowling a 386 series, including a 224 high game in her first series game.

The boys didn’t have an overall winner, but had two bowlers finish second and third. David Terry took second with a 426 series, including a 224 high game.

Dylin Keat meanwhile had a 424 series with a 236 high game, to finish third. Jake Drustrup of Lewis Central took first with a 428 series.

One other boys bowler finished with a 400 series and that was Hayden Berry, who recorded a 416.

Berry bowled a 223 in his second game torecord the series.

Shane Majerus finished with a 344 series and a 219 high game, while Ryan Plambeck had a 340 series. Chase Rea was the final finisher with a 331 series.

For the girls team, Breann Berkey finished with a 339 series.

Berkey concluded her 178 first game, which was also her high game, with a turkey on the 10th frame.

Kendra Hardy was close behind for Red Oak as she had a 337 series, including a 194 high game.

Jasmine Forward had a 302 series, while Alexa Gilliland had a 285 and Brenna Craig had a 275 series, respectively.

Red Oak was home Tuesday for a meet against Lewis Central. Results weren’t available as of press time.
