Red Oak takes seventh at Creston
CRESTON — The Red Oak boys track and field team picked up one win at the Panther Relays Thursday as they finished seventh as a team.
The Tigers finished ahead of both Creston and Adair-Casey as they recorded a score of 36. Harlan won the meet with 113 points. Clarinda was runner-up and Atlantic took third.
Logan LeRette had the highlight for the team as he picked up the only win for the Tigers in the 3,200. LeRette ran a time of 10:32.71, beating out Harlan’s Preston Burris. Teammate Josh Sunberg was third in the race with a time of 10:42.40.
LeRette also had a runner-up finish in the 1,600 when he ran a time of 4:46.52. LeRette was three seconds behind the winner of the race, Joe Blake of Shenandoah.
Gabe Nelson had the other highlight for the Tigers as he jumped 5’10” to finish second in the high jump. Nelson was sandwiched between Atlantic’s Alec Hayes, who had 6’5” and Joey Walker, who had 5’8”.
Red Oak’s best relay race finish came in the distance medley when the team of Hayden VanMeter, Brock Isaacson, Rob Vial and LeRette ran a time of 4:05.51 to finish fifth.
The only other points finish for Red Oak came in the 4x200 when the team of VanMeter, Dylan Graber, Vial and Isaacson ran a time of 1:37.70.
Red Oak will be home Tuesday to host their meet, which starts at 5 p.m.
