Red Oak teams finish 10th at Hawkeye Ten meet
SHENANDOAH — Red Oak began the week with 10th place finishes at the Hawkeye Ten meet in Shenandoah, last Monday.
The girls had a team score of nine points, while the boys finished with 11. Glenwood won the boys title with a score of 156 points, while Harlan won on the girls side with 175.
Individually for the girls, Nikki Graber, Blake Bergren and Michaela Buntrock had the best finishes. Graber took fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.20 seconds. Bergren placed sixth in the long jump with a jump of 15’3”.
Buntrock finished sixth in the 400-meter dash when she ran a time of 1:05.59.
The Red Oak girls had two fifth place finishes in the relay races. In the sprint medley, Graber, Bergren, Maysen Havener and Maddy Mann ran a time of 2:01.34.
The 4x200 team, which featured Haevner, Graber, Mann and Bergren, were also fifth with a time of 1:53.07.
Havener and Mann were also part of the 4x100 team that took sixth. Hailey Fada and Angela Mahoney were also part of the team as they ran a time of 55.21 seconds.
For the boys team, Casey Dykes and Josh Sunberg had the best individual finishes. Dykes took fourth in the 400-meter dash when he ran a time of 52.64 seconds.
Sunberg was sixth in the 1,600 when he ran a time of 4:52.99, ahead of teammate Gavin French by nearly four seconds.
The relay teams for the boys had three fifth place finishes. The distance medley team, 4x800 and 4x200 all took fifth at the conference meet.
