Rialto Theater vandalized

Authorities are investigating a criminal mischief incident resulting in extensive damage to Villisca’s Rialto Theater.

On Jan. 30, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at the theater. Following an investigation, authorities determined within the last few months, multiple persons entered the theater through a side door and did a large amount of damage to the building’s interior.

Damage included broken bathroom fixtures, damage to props and equipment, and paint damage to the interior carpet, walls, and seating. A detailed damage estimate is unavailable but authorities estimate the amount to be several thousands of dollars.
