Richard A. Erb, 71

Richard A. Erb, 71, of Emerson, died Aug. 9, 2009, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

Richard Arlan Erb was born Aug. 27, 1937, near Woodburn, the son of Harrison and Darlean (Smith) Erb. He attended country school at “Sprout” and grade school in Cambria. He later graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1955.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Marcena Reed; and two brothers-in-law: Johnny Tuttle and Tom Petrovick.

Survivors include his wife: Jene Erb of Emerson; children: Rich (Linda) Erb of Beatrice, Neb. and Chris Erb of St. Joseph, Mo.; three grandchildren; brother: Chuck (Gladys) Erb of Carlisle; sisters: Joan Tuttle of Cambria; Carolyn (Gene) Hockensmith of Des Moines; Joyce (Willard) Dainty of Carlisle; Deanna (Bill) Slagg of Humeston; and Tammy (John) Clark of Afton; sister-in-law: Jenny Petrovick of St. Joseph, Mo.; and brother-in-law: Darwin Reed of Garden Grove.

Funeral services were held Aug. 13 at the Emerson United Methodist Church with Rev. Marion Sindt officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery.
