Rigged vote?

Montgomery County Auditor Stephanie Burke is setting the record straight in regard to allegations of rigged elections during this heated political season. 

“I, as Montgomery County auditor and commissioner of elections, will assure you that your vote will be counted if you are an eligible elector. Montgomery County maintains the highest professional standards to ensure the integrity of the election process,” Burke said.

According to Burke, Iowa county auditors, regardless of their political affiliation, are proud of their reputation for fair and honest elections and follow the many provisions of Iowa election laws that ensure full bipartisan involvement in the testing of voting equipment and the operation of polling places, secure voting systems against cyber threats and ballot tampering, and protect the right of all eligible citizens to vote. 

Montgomery County conducts elections according to state statute, and all employees in the Montgomery County Auditor’s office have completed professional training designed for Iowa’s Election Administrators. 

“We take the integrity of our elections very seriously. I am very confident in our election system,” Burke advised

All Iowa counties work closely with the Iowa Secretary of State that works with Democrats and Republicans to ensure electoral integrity with a system of checks and balances.  There is no evidence or history of any rigged elections in Iowa, and our state has maintained the highest integrity when it comes to a fair election process – which Iowa Secretary of State, Paul Pate, stated emphatically this week.  Fact check after fact check has found voter fraud to be extremely rare.  

“Candidates and their campaigns should be focusing on issues and policies impacting Iowans, and leave the election process to the County Auditors and Secretary of State,”  Pate commented.
