RO XC boys place three in top 10 in season opener

Red Oak and East Mills competed in the Early Bird cross country meet in Shenandoah last Tuesday, with the Red Oak boys placing three in the top 10.
Sidney’s Noah Jorgenson ran a 16:57.81 to place first, while Red Oak’s Baylor Bergren was just 49 seconds behind for a convincing second-place finish.
“It was a good first meet for the Tigers,” co-head coach Curt Adams said. “It is an excellent start to build on, but we have some work to do.”
The meet was not officially scored; however, Red Oak boys finished with 48 team points and the Tiger girls had 232.

Red Oak and East Mills competed in the 45th annual co-ed cross country meet in Glenwood on Saturday, Aug. 31. Red Oak’s Bergren and A. McCunn earned the highest placing on the Tigers boys and girls teams, respectively.

“Our boys all improved,” Adams said. “We ran better as a team. We had six varsity boys under 20 minutes and four varsity boys under 19 minutes. We must keep working hard and keep lowering those times.”

“All our girls improved from the last meet by quite a bit,” Adams said.
