Robert D. Keeton

Robert D Keeton, previously from Shenandoah and College Springs, graduated from Great Lakes Navy Training Center, near Chicago, on May 8. He will attend additional training in Pensacola, Florida until January 2010 at which time he expects to be assigned to a Naval vessel. Keeton follows a family tradition of service.

Grandfathers David Hughes and Mervin Keeton (deceased), and uncle Rick Hughes were all in the Navy. Great-Grandfather Robert Allen (WWII) and uncle Duane Hughes (both deceased) served in the Army. Many other uncles and cousins have also served in all branches of the military.

Keeton is the son of Rick Keeton of Shenandoah and Scott and Kristine Price of Tarkio, Mo. He is the grandson of Kay Keeton and Dave and Karolyn Hughes of Clarinda. Edie Allen of Red Oak is his great-grandmother.

Keeton attended South Page schools before graduating from Shenandoah High School in 2003. He was a member of Boy Scout Troops 205 and 202 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He has plans of continuing his volunteer service when possible for Troop 205 and Camp Cedars Boy Scout Camp where he has been an employee for several years.
