Robert L. Lamb, 80

Robert L. Lamb, 80, of Elliott, died Nov. 22, 2009, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

Robert LaVerne Lamb was born at Allendale, MO on June 29, 1929 the son of Edgar Glee and Ocle Florene (Staton) Lamb. He attended schools in Allendale and high school in Grant City, Mo. graduating in 1946. While in high school he started working at the rock quarry in Allendale. He joined the U S Army and served in the Korean War. On Sept. 5, 1952, he married Gayle Darlene Shipps at St. Joseph, Mo. In 1959 they moved to Elliott such that Bob could remove and rebuild the bridge over the Nishnabotna River on Highway 48 near Elliott following the flood. He continued to work heavy construction all of his life building bridges, culverts and heavy demolition. He also hauled grain for a number of years. Bob was a member of American Legion Post #508 of Griswold.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents, his brothers Rex Lamb and Gerald (Jerry) Lamb and his sisters Lloyt Dunkeson Bressler and Marjorie Plumb.

Survivors include his wife Gayle of Elliott, sons Wesley (Candice) Lamb of Adel, and Dale (Bim) Lamb of Griswold; daughters, Kathy (Bert Anderson) Lamb of Griswold and Nancy (Lewis) Gilleland of Elliott; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Garland Lamb of St. Joseph, Mo. and Nathan Lamb of Des Moines and sisters, Dorothy Rush of St. Joseph, Retha Moutray of Kansas City, Mo., Roberta Farmer of Clarinda, and Martha (Ron) Andrews of Clear Lake.

Cremation has taken place and no memorial service is planned.

A memorial fund has been established.

Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the Lamb family with arrangements.
