Round-Up: Griswold, SWV, EM fall short

 GRISWOLD — The Griswold Tigers football team fell short Friday night at home against Westwood, 24-7.

Jacob Dickinson had the lone touchdown in the game as the Tigers dropped to 1-2 in Class A District 1 play. Dickinson scored the touchdown on a three-yard run.

It was Caleb Schaaf, however, who was the leading rusher for Griswold. Schaaf had 103 yards on 24 carries.

Walker Mundorf had 80 yards of passing on 5-for-7 completions. Mason Boucher caught all five of those passes for Griswold.

Defensively, Wyatt Robinette led the way with 18 tackles. Dickinson had 10 tackles, while Jordan Vetter finished with nine.

The Tigers return to action Friday night when they go to Council Bluffs to face St. Albert.

Woodward-Granger 48, Southwest Valley 0

With the homecoming loss Friday night, the Southwest Valley Timberwolves have dropped four in a row. Their lone win this season came in a week one shutout versus Clarinda Academy.

The loss for Southwest Valley is their third straight via shutout. They haven’t scored points in a game since week two against Bedford.

The Timberwolves will be in Leon Friday night as they try to salvage the season with a district game against Central Decatur.

Fremont-Mills 56, East Mills 26

The East Mills Wolverines have lost two straight district games and have fallen out of top two contention, thanks to the loss to Fremont-Mills Friday night.

It was a big night for Fremont-Mills’ Parker Powers, who had 178 yards rushing on 15 carries with one touchdown. Jason Rusten and Spencer Phillips each had two rushing touchdowns in the Fremont-Mills victory.

East Mills will try to avoid its third straight loss when they return home Friday night to face Lenox.
