Ruby J. Bignell, 80

Ruby Bignell, 80, of Corning formerly of Nodaway, died Aug. 1, 2009, at Corning Nursing and Rehab., Corning.

Ruby Jean Bignell, the daughter of Harry and Calla Hardin, was born on Aug. 31, 1928, at Ash Flat, Ark. Ruby was a self-educated woman. She married Lawrence Gray in 1943. On July 30, 1960, Ruby married Leo Bignell.

Preceding Ruby in death were her parents, Harry and Calla Hardin; husband, Leo Bignell; brothers: Frank, Carl, John, Cecil and Sam Hardin; James and George Hardin in infancy; sisters: Jesse Woodard, Lodena Gilmore and Ruth Bouldin; and two granddaughters.

Ruby is survived by her children: David Gray, Jerome, Idaho; Jolene (Milton) Cox, Wendover, Nev.; Dan (Sherry) Gray, Terreton, Idaho; Dennis “Andy” (Jan) Gray, Fargo, N.D.; Rachel (Ronnie) Camden, Corning; Robin (Fred) Burgess, Villisca; step-son, Dennis (Donna) Bignell, Searcy, Ark.; step-daughter, Peggy (Terry) Tribble, Underwood; twenty grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dwight Bignell, Columbus, Neb.; and sisters-in-law: Helen Hardin, Liberty, Mo.; Doris (Dan) Wulff, Lamonte, Mo.; Mildred Hardin, Gallatin, Mo.

Services were held Aug. 6 at Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service, Corning, with Mary O’Riley officiating. Interment was at the Nodaway Cemetery in Nodaway. Memorials may be made in Ruby’s name.
