Scoreboard: Thursday Volleyball Scores

RED OAK — The Red Oak Tigers volleyball team won their second match of the season Thursday night when they defeated their rivals, the Shenandoah Fillies.

Red Oak won all three games, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-20. Gabi French led the way for the Tigers with 12 kills against Shenandoah.

Red Oak will have their first road match of the season on Tuesday night when they face the Glenwood Rams.

There will be more on the Red Oak/Shenandoah match in Wednesday's edition of the Red Oak Express.

Villisca won their second match this week when they defeated Corning, 3-1.

The Blue Jays won the first two games 25-21 and 25-20. Corning won the third game with ease, 25-9. Villisca responded in the fourth game by winning 25-22.

Jill Vanderhoof had 11 kills and 11 digs to lead the Blue Jays.

Villisca will travel South on US-71 this Saturday to compete at the Clarinda Tournament.

In Oakland, Essex split their triangular with Riverside and Bedford. The Trojannettes defeated Riverside 25-15, 2-25 and 17-15. Freshman Cheyana Brownfield had five kills to lead Essex.

The Trojannettes lost to Bedford, 25-4 and 25-8. Essex will be back in Fairfax, Mo. to compete at the Fairfax Tournament. The Trojannettes were 0-2-1 in pool play on Tuesday.
