Sending wrestlers to Des Moines

RED OAK  — Nine Red Oak JVAA wrestlers advanced to the State AAU Tournament in Des Moines, after placing at the AAU Districts, held in Harlan on March 12.

Placing first at the tournament were Cameron Pryor (fifth grade, 130 pounds), Tanner Mertz (eighth grade, 95 pounds)  and Christian Terry (sixth grade,140 pounds).

Carter Maynes (third grade and 70 pounds) and Cody Bentley (fourth grade, 85 pounds) placed second.

Cameron Vanderhoof (75-pounds, fourth grade) and Carlos Guerra (sixth grad, 105-pounds) finished third.

Marshall Schmitz (fourth grade, 60 pounds), Jordan Taylor (fourth grade,  70 pounds), Luke Mellott (fifth grade, 115 pounds) and Caleb Orme (eighth grade, 90 pounds) placed fourth.

The event was for third graders up until eighth grade.

The tournament will be held at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on March 26 and 27.
