Sieck wins House District 23 special election

After a special election on Tuesday, the vacant House District 23 seat will be filled by David Sieck of Glenwood.

Sieck was nominated against Steven Adams (D-Red Oak) and election results show that Sieck won over 72 percent of the vote. Adams had 27 percent of the vote. 

District 23 inclues Fremont, Mills and a portion of Montgomery counties. 

Montgomery County reported a total of 498 votes, with 267 for Sieck, 230 for Adams and 1 write-in. 

Fremont County reported a total of 269 votes, with 204 for Sieck, 64 for Adams and 1 write-in. 

Mills County reported a total of 724 votes, with 611 for Sieck, 110 for Adams and 3 write-ins. 

Sieck will replace Mark Costello, who was voted to US Senator Joni Ernst's former state Senate seat. Sieck will finish the remainder of Costello's term.
