Six arrested in drug raid

A five-month-long narcotics investigation led to the arrest of six people Friday. 

A warrant following the investigation led to the seizure of 127 grams (about 4.5 ounces) of marijuana, more than $2,200 in cash, drug packaging material, a 9mm handgun and about 600 rounds of ammunition from the residence at 129 N. 4th Street in Villisca. 

Jeffery Whitt, 19, and Jesse Barger, 20, both of Villisca, were charged with felonies including delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and drug tax stamp violation. 

Andrew Rice, 24, Brandon Johnston, 27, Lacey Dorris, 27, and Joseph White, 26, all of Villisca, were charged with multiple misdemeanors. 

Barger, Rice, Johnston, Dorris and White were charged with an aggravated misdemeanor of child endangerment. All five were also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, another misdemeanor. 

Whitt, Rice, Johnston and Dorris all received a serious misdemeanor charge for possession of a controlled substance. There was also a warrant from Pottawattamie County for Barger for contempt of court. 

They are all being held in the Montgomery County Jail pending an appearance in a magistrate court. 

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Adams County Sherriff’s Office, Page County Sherriff’s Office and the Red Oak Police Department during the investigation.
