Softball Regionals Released
DES MOINES — The Iowa High School Girls Athletic Association released their softball regional pairings late Monday night.
In 3A, Red Oak will be home for their first game as they take on Shenandoah July 3 at 7 p.m. The Tigers will be competing in Region 8 along with Hawkeye Ten teams Atlantic and Clarinda, as well as teams outside the conference like Saydel, Adel, Bondurant and North Polk.
Should Red Oak win, they'd play the winner of Clarinda and Atlantic July 6 in Atlantic. The Regional Final would take place July 9 in Adel.
In 1A, Villisca, Stanton, East Mills and Essex/South Page will be competing in Region 7.
Stanton will be on the road as they play the Nishnabotna Blue Devils July 2 at 5:30 p.m. in Sidney. The game will be the first of a doubleheader being played there. Essex/South Page and Sidney will be the second game of the doubleheader as they play at 7:30 p.m.
Villisca will also be on the road when they face Bedford in Bedford. That game will take place July 2 at 7 p.m.
East Mills and Fremont-Mills will face off at 5:30 p.m. July 2 in Tabor. The other first round game taking place July 2 will be CAM versus Orient-Macksburg.
In Class 2A, Griswold will compete in Region 7 as they host a first round game as they take on Audubon July 3 at 7 p.m. Other first round games in Region 7 will be South Central Calhoun vs. Alta-Aurelia, Prairie Valley vs. Manson Northwest Webster and Panorama vs. West Central Valley.
This is the first season for the IGHSAU in which they are using 5 classes (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A), instead of four.
