Special election scheduled for Red Oak City Council
RED OAK — Anyone intersted in running in a special election for the Red Oak City Council can now formally file their candidacy.
The filing period opened Monday for the at-large position previously held by Mark Gregg. Gregg resigned the position in November due to time constraints.
One year remains on Gregg’s term and the City will host a special election Feb. 21 to fill the seat.
Anyone interested in running can obtain the necessary paperwork at the Red Oak City Hall at 601 N. 6th Street, or download the information at redoakiowa.com.
Candidates need to obtain 25 signatures on a petition from registered voters residing in the city limits.
The deadline to submit the paperwork is noon, Friday, Jan. 27.
Currently, only one person, Rev. Fred Pilecki, has announced an intention to run for the office.
