Sports Calendar: Last games before break

You can tell we've reached the holiday break. Schools are wrapping up for the semester with tests. Some aren't even having school today because of the winter storm from late Wednesday. We do have a couple of doubleheaders scheduled for Friday evening.

In Red Oak, the varsity teams will be home Friday night as they host the Creston Panthers. The first game starts at 6 p.m. with the girls and the boys will follow at 7:30.

The girls enter Friday's game trying to snap a four-game losing skid. All four losses have been by 10 points or less. The most recent one came Tuesday night on the road as they lost a close one to Shenandoah 54-50.

The Red Oak boys team meanwhile will try and make it two in a row heading into the break. They were able to get the win Tuesday night over Shenandoah.

In Villisca, the Blue Jays will try to get back to their winning ways at home when they face Heartland Christian. This game was originally slated to take place Thursday night, but school on Thursday was canceled.

Both Villisca teams are coming off losses Tuesday night to Fremont-Mills. For the girls', they also lost to Bedford and would like to avoid a three-game losing skid before the break.
