Sports Calendar: May 23

This will be a short update for the calendar.

The state track meet continues Friday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. There will be much more relay races, as well as field events and hurdle races. For more, go to IAHSAA.org or IGHSAU.org to follow along with the action.

After getting rained out Thursday, the regional girls tennis tournament got underway this morning in Red Oak. The meet was scheduled for a 9 a.m. start. Red Oak and Southwest Valley will have individual competitors.

Finally, the boys district golf meet takes place Friday morning around the state.

The 2A district golf meet, featuring Evan Baldwin of Southwest Valley, will start at 10 a.m. at Lake Panorama Golf Course in Panora.

Meanwhile, both Griswold and East Mills will be competing in the 1A district meet at Crestwood Hills Golf Course in Anita. The action starts at 10 a.m.
