Sports Calendar: Tentative May 8 schedule

As of right now, all the area sports events are on as scheduled. However, with severe weather possibly being a concern for the afternoon and evening hours, that could change.

The big track meet on the schedule for Thursday takes place in Creston as Red Oak is among the teams competing at the Hawkeye 10 meet. It all starts at 4:30 p.m. at Creston High School. There has been a rain date set up for the meet, in case it does get postponed. That date is Monday, May 12.

Elsewhere, the Southwest Valley boys track team will host a varsity invitational. The meet, which includes Stanton, Griswold, East Mills and Essex, will take place at Bedford High School at 4:30 p.m.

Tennis

Both Red Oak teams will be in action Thursday as they face off versus Harlan. The girls will be home, while the boys make the trip to Harlan. Both meets are scheduled for a 4:30 p.m.

The Southwest Valley tennis teams face off against Clarke. The girls head to Clarke, while the boys are home as that meet starts at 4:30 p.m.

Golf

Both Red Oak golf teams are scheduled to compete Thursday as they take part in a triangular against Clarinda and Bedford. The boys will be home, while the girls travel to Clarinda. These meets are re-scheduled from April 29. Both start at 4:30 p.m.
