Stanton boys take second at their own track meet

The Stanton boys track teams earned a pair of first place finishes and several second place medals to place second at the Stanton Relays last Tuesday.

Fremont-Mills was the meet champion with 185 teams points. Stanton earned 106 1/3 team points to place second.

Stanton got gold medals from its distance medley and shuttle hurdle relay teams and added second place medals from its 4x800, 4x200, 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams.

Alex Whigham was a dual medal winner for the Vikings, placing second in both the long jump and the high jump. Lucas Oster was third in both the shot put and the discus.

Essex earned a fourth place finish at Stanton behind Mitchell Nicholas’ first place finish in the long jump, third place finish in the 100-meter dash. The Trojans added a first place finish in 110-meter hurdles and 400-meters from Marcus Birt.

East Mills was fifth with a first place finish in the 4x100-meter relay and a second place finish by Jake Doyle in the 1,600-meters.
