Stanton wins two of three for the week

The Stanton Vikings went 2-1 last week in baseball action.

Both wins came in conference as they were able to defeat the Sidney Cowboys last Tuesday 4-3 and knocked off Essex/South Page Friday night 8-1.

The Vikings scored two runs in the sixth inning and were able to hold off the Cowboys in the win last Tuesday.

Stanton’s lone loss for the week came last Monday when they fell 16-3 to Lenox.

The Tigers were able to score 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to force the 10-run mercy rule in five innings.

Stats from all the games weren’t available as of press time.

Stanton begins the week on the road when they face the Nishnabotna Blue Devils. The Vikings will try to avenge a 16-0 loss from June 6.

Thursday, Stanton will be on the road once again when they face East Mills. They’ll try to get the season sweep. Stanton defeated East Mills June 4, 11-7.

The Vikings wrap up the week with a home game Friday night against Clarinda Academy.
