State and National Honors for Red Oak’s FBLA students

A number of Red Oak High School students won honors that indicate they are promising leaders in tomorrow’s business world. Twenty-seven students attended the State Conference for Future Business Leaders of America held April 2-4 in Cedar Rapids.

Student presentations were given by 650 students from 28 Iowa high schools. Red Oak students and their chapter won state and national honors.

The new state president of Future Business Leaders of America is Allison Adams and the new secretary for the organization is Matt Goracke, both of Red Oak.

National rankings went to Cam Deter, winning first place in Mr. Future Business Leader, first place in job interview and first in Who’s Who in Iowa FBLA.

Conrad Metz and Rachel Pierson won the fourth spot nationally for Desktop Publishing and a team made up of Allison Adams, Ben Adams and Andrew Hayes won fifth place nationally in Business Ethics and Allison also won fifth place in Who’s Who in Iowa FBLA.

Winning state honors were Goracke and Abbey Swanson, with a first place in the spelling relay; Andrew Hayes with third place in Business Knowledge and Current Events; and the Red Oak chapter won recognition as the first place winner in largest increase in membership; second place in largest percent of school population involved in FLBLA; and two fourth place titles: largest local chapter membership and largest percentage increase in membership.
