Storms cause damage in Villisca

 Storms sweeping through Montgomery County resulted in some damage around Villisca.

According to Montgomery County Emergency Management Coordinator Brian Hamman. The heaviest portion of the damage was reported at around 4 a.m. Thursday, July 7.

“The roof was partially blown off of the Villisca Power Plant. Forsman Farms, located southwest of town, had significant damage to multiple buildings.  The damage ranged from major roof and structural damage, to minor damage to  the siding and shingles,” Hamman said.

Chances for severe weather continue through the weekend. Hamman is advising all Montgomery County residents to remain cautious.

“Be weather aware.  There are multiple ways to stay up-to date on severe weather, including the county’s CodeRED system and various apps for your phone,” Hamman said.
